EARTH INSTITUTE
Students join both the School of International and Public Affairs and Columbia Climate School's Earth Institute, the world’s leading academic institution dedicated to the education, research, and the practice of sustainability.
The Earth Institute brings together the people and tools needed to address some of the world’s most difficult problems, from climate change and environmental degradation, to poverty, disease, and the sustainable use of resources. Faculty and researchers of the Earth Institute designed the program’s curriculum, and now teach courses in the program. The Earth Institute also offers students opportunities to learn from and interact with world-class researchers, including the scientists of the world-class Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, a scientific powerhouse in the earth sciences, and an integral part of the Earth Institute and Columbia University. The Earth Institute also offers students a sustainability-oriented professional development program, funding for course-related travel and research, and co-curricular programs and events that enhance the program’s curriculum.
